Democratic Candidate Pledges Term Limits, Annual Scholarships, and Transformative
Leadership for Indiana’s Fourth District
MONTICELLO, IN — Darin Griesey, a fourth-generation farm owner and seasoned community
development leader, today officially announced his candidacy for the United States House of
Representatives, representing Indiana’s Fourth District. With over 30 years of experience
coordinating rural and urban projects across the state, Griesey is bringing a fresh,
solutions-oriented perspective to Washington.
“For too long, our district has needed leaders who understand both the soil beneath our feet
and the hopes that drive us forward,” said Griesey. “I’m running to make the dreams of
tomorrow the policy of today—because government works when government is working for the
people.”
A Campaign Rooted in Action
As part of his campaign’s commitment to stewardship and transparency, Griesey will embark on
a 100-mile kayak journey throughout the Fourth District. Starting from his registered historic
Hoosier Homestead farm along the Tippecanoe River near Buffalo Indiana, the
“100 miles in 100 days-Indiana Waterway Assessment” will focus on evaluating 4th district
waterways, documenting environmental conditions, and conducting wildlife observations.
Griesey will share updates and findings directly with voters via social media, inviting
constituents to follow along and engage in conversations about the health of Indiana’s natural
resources.
“Clean water isn’t a partisan issue—it’s a necessity for our farms, families, and future,” Griesey
said. “This journey is about listening, learning, and leading by example.”
Transformational Commitments to Constituents
Griesey’s campaign is marked by a series of bold pledges aimed at restoring trust in
government and empowering Indiana’s Fourth District:
● Two-Term Limit: A personal commitment to serve no more than two terms in Congress.
● Scholarship Commitment: Griesey will dedicate 10% of his congressional salary to fund
three annual $5,000 scholarships—one each for an undergraduate, master’s, and
doctoral student currently residing in the Fourth District. The first awards will be available
to the high school class of 2027 and continue throughout his tenure in office.
● Transparency and Accountability: A detailed campaign platform and pledge are available
for public review, reflecting Griesey’s belief in open governance and public accountability.
“These are more than campaign promises—they’re tangible ways to show that service and
integrity still matter in public office,” Griesey emphasized.

Darin Griesey Officially Files Candidacy for Indiana’s Fourth Congressional District, Emphasizes Accountability and Transformative Governance
INDIANAPOLIS, IN Darin Griesey, a dedicated public advocate and policy innovator, formally
filed his candidacy today for the U.S. House of Representatives in Indiana’s Fourth Congressional District. Griesey’s filing date, January 13, carries historical resonance. This date marks the anniversary of the U.S. House of Representatives’ second impeachment of former and current President Donald Trump in 2021. The moment underscores Griesey’s central message: that America must recommit to accountability, institutional integrity, and the responsible stewardship of public trust.
Griesey’s platform centers on advancing pragmatic, people first solutions, while restoring confidence in the nation’s democratic institutions. His campaign will focus on strengthening ethical standards in government, curbing political corruption, and delivering policies that place working families, small businesses, and future generations at the heart of America’s legislative agenda.
“Our country stands at a crossroads between cynicism and renewal,” Griesey said. “We cannot afford to accept dysfunction as the price of democracy. It’s time for new leadership committed to facts, fairness, and the fundamental belief that government should serve the governed, not itself.”
Griesey’s policy vision includes:
- Ethics and Accountability Reform: Implementing stronger oversight and conflict-of-interest standards for federal officeholders.
- Economic Renewal: Investing in sustainable job growth, local manufacturing, and equitable workforce development.
- Civic Trust and Transparency: Reinforcing laws that ensure open, responsible governance and meaningful public participation in the democratic process.
“The American people deserve representatives who uphold the promise of public service with integrity and purpose,” Griesey added. “This campaign is about turning that promise into policy, and making the dreams of tomorrow the policy of today.”

Congressional Candidate Darin Patrick Griesey Unveils Fair Education Funding Act to End K-12 Inequities for Hoosier Families
Contact: Campaign Office, (219) 984-8362,
Buffalo, IN – Today, congressional candidate for Indiana’s 4th District Darin Patrick Griesey released a bold legislative proposal, the Fair Education Funding Act of 2027 (FEFA), to overhaul federal K-12 education funding and deliver equitable resources to every Hoosier student. This bipartisan reform targets outdated formulas that shortchange rural and working-class districts like those in Indiana’s 4th, ensuring fair per-pupil support regardless of zip code.
“Indiana’s 4th District families work hard but face crumbling schools and funding gaps of thousands per student compared to wealthier states,” said Darin Patrick. “FEFA replaces Washington’s broken system with a single, transparent equity formula – no more political earmarks or silos. It’s time for federal dollars to follow a student’s needs, not lobbyists.”
Key Provisions of FEFA:
Unified Equity Formula: Consolidates Title I, IDEA, and other programs into a school district needs based allocation (proposed indicators-poverty 50%, cost-of-living 30%, state capacity 20%), with automatic Census updates required every two years.
National Funding Floor: Guarantees $3,500 federal per-pupil minimum for high-need areas, aiming for $15,000 total spend per student adjusted for inflation.
State Accountability: “Maintenance of Effort” requires states to match prior spending; and non-compliance automatically claws back funds.
Oversight Commission: Bipartisan panel issues annual “Equity Report Cards” tracking outcomes like graduation rates.
Fiscal Responsibility with Real Savings:
FEFA projects $70B annual investment phased over five years, fully offset by saving:
$30B/year from consolidating 12 duplicative programs and recovering unspent ESSER funds.
$15B/year admin savings (15% overhead cut via unified formula).
$25B/year new revenue from a 0.5% surtax on $10M+ incomes and higher ed subsidy redirects.
Net impact: $0 over five years, with long-term $1.2T economic boost from higher graduation rates. Unlike risky block grants that cut services in recessions, FEFA’s hybrid model preserves equity while slashing waste. Far superior return on Student Investment to the current $79B FY2026 baseline allocation.
Across the Aisle: This builds on recent FY2026 appropriations, aligning with President Trump’s education priorities while protecting Indiana’s rural schools. “Block grants may save federally, but burden states and have shown little return. FEFA delivers fairness, and local flexibility without shifting costs to Hoosier taxpayers,” Griesey added.
Indiana’s 4th District deserves better. Let’s make Fair Education Funding the priority of today.

Darin Patrick Griesey Unveils “Hoosier Energy Freedom and Grid Security Act”
A New Deal for Rural Power in Indiana’s 4th Congressional District
Monticello, IN – Darin Patrick Griesey, a fourth generation farm owner, 30‑year renewable energy advocate, and candidate for Congress in Indiana’s 4th U.S. House District, today announced his flagship energy proposal: the Hoosier Energy Freedom and Grid Security Act. The proposed federal bill would give homeowners, farmers, and small businesses the right to sell electricity they generate to their local utility while strengthening the power grid through regional energy storage hubs.
“I was born and raised in this district, and I’ve watched too much of our green energy leave rural Indiana,” said Griesey. “This bill puts the power, in every sense of the word, back in the hands of Hoosier families and independent power producers, while making our grid stronger, not weaker.” announced the candidate.
American Energy Freedom Act-Empowering Homeowners and Farmers
The American Energy Freedom and Grid Security Act creates a clear federal right for independent power producers and grid connected homeowners to buy and sell electricity with their local utility under fair, uniform rules.
Under Griesey’s proposal:
- Hoosier homeowners, farms, and small businesses would have the right to connect rooftop solar, small wind, or other distributed energy systems to the grid using simple, standardized interconnection rules.
- When they produce more electricity than they use, utilities would be required to purchase that excess power at a fair, transparent rate, giving families and farms a new, steady income stream.
- Customers would keep full access to reliable grid power when their own systems are not producing, ensuring that choice never comes at the expense of reliability.
“This is about energy freedom and economic freedom,” Griesey said. “If you invest your hard earned dollars into a solar array on your barn or a small wind turbine on your land, you should have the right to sell that power and get a fair return. Just like the big guys.”
Building Regional Storage Hubs to Secure the Grid
The second pillar of the Act focuses on grid security. Griesey’s proposal would create regional energy storage hubs within each state, including Indiana, with a strong emphasis on safe, long‑duration technologies such as flow batteries.
These hubs would:
- Store excess power when it’s abundant and cheap, like on windy nights and sunny afternoons. Then release power when demand is high or when there are outages.
- Be located near existing substations, transmission lines, and retired coal plant sites to reuse existing infrastructure and preserve local tax bases.
- Act as a backbone for rural reliability, helping keep power on for farms, small towns, and critical facilities during extreme weather and grid emergencies.
“Rural Indiana knows what it’s like to sit in the dark after an ice storm,” said Griesey. “Strong local storage means fewer outages, smoother bills, and a tougher grid that can stand up to the 21st century.”
Lower Bills, Stronger Communities, More Local Control
Griesey emphasized that his plan is designed to stabilize and reduce long term power costs while keeping energy investment in local communities.
The Hoosier Energy Freedom and Grid Security Act would:
- Help keep rates more predictable by cutting the most expensive “peak” hours through storage and local generation.
- Encourage utilities to reinvest in modern grid upgrades and storage, rather than clinging to outdated, high‑cost infrastructure.
- Support rural electric cooperatives and municipal utilities with grants and financing tools so that rural customers aren’t left behind.
“This is a win for farmers, a win for small towns, and a win for every Hoosier who’s tired of being told there’s no alternative to higher bills and weaker service,” Griesey said.
A New Era of Servant Leadership
Griesey framed the proposal as part of a broader commitment to servant‑leader public policy and a new kind of representation in Washington.
“As a fourth‑generation farmer, I’ve spent my life working the same soil my family did before me,” he said. “As a 30‑year renewable energy advocate, I’ve seen what happens when we modernize wisely and when we drag our feet. I’m running for Congress to serve, not to be served – to listen first, and to write laws that actually work on the ground, in places like Monticello, Lafayette, Crawfordsville, and every small town in between.”
Griesey pledged to work across party lines to advance the bill.
“Energy freedom, strong grids, and thriving rural communities are not Republican ideas or Democrat ideas – they’re Hoosier ideas,” he said. “This Act is a blueprint for how Washington can finally work for us again.”
